Anzac Dulce et decorum est

For writing we have been reconstructing a poem following the structure of Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen.
Miss hooper read us instructions and we constructed our poem about about Anzac and the war

Here is my poem:
ANZAC POEM

Sickness is getting to us and our legs our starting to weaken up,
Men crying because of the conditions, we are all coughing like mad dogs,
Men can’t get up, we're sprinting from the front line heading back to safety,
Cannons and guns aiming straight for our heads, paths of bullet shells shining in the mud,
Keep running men were almost there,
They have lost their boots, cuts bruises and trench foot
Men are deaf from bombs and guns,
Too tired to walk, to smell the gas bombs flying behind them,
We are walking like drunk men then the gas will catch us at suprises,
Dragging each other to safety was so hard because of the uneven ground.

Gas gas Quickly put on your marks before the shell hit us,
Men are struggling to put their marks they are too weak to shove them on right, A soldier is to slow to put his mask on and had no more time then he started to crying in agony,
The gas it too thick now a green ish color I can't even to other soldiers how do I know how to shoot and when I think i can see someone or is that the enemy's

I wish I could save him and I did by dragging him to safety then when i saw his face all he said thank you then started to coughing really hard.

His face is pale white when we slowly putting him on the wagon,
his eyes turned white too and his clothes had rips through them,
blood was all over his head and he had blond hair,He was also had no fingers and crying every bump in agony continuously,

After reading the you will see the bad side of war
You will have nightmares about seeing people die in wagons
Or the gas booms flying there the air
Probably you won't want to die for your country

  1. Hey Manasse I think your Anzac writing is really good I love the detail you have put in your writing. I also love the way you presented it on the paper.
