Wai care-Week 6
Water Treatment and Water Pollution - Week 6
Insert 3 powerful images that clearly show water pollution from around the different parts of our world. For each image, briefly mention which country it is associated to and another interesting fact about it ie. photographer, people in it, why you chose it.
1. This is a polluted river in Brazil. They tried to clean it before the Rio Olympics what they are putting in the sea.
2. This pipe is shooting out bad things that are bad for the ocean & I chose this because it shows what we are putting in the sea.
3. This shows a bird that has been diving for fish but instead of a fish it got a bunch of plastic stuck around his neck.

He is helping the ocean and the animal there in the ocean by cleaning it out and finding better ways to clean it.

He could get animals caught in the net they used to fish the rubbish out of the ocean so it could hurt the animals.

That a nineteen year old is able to do something like this and to stop the pollution and plastic from getting out into the sea and possibly kill loads of animals

Are there any other scientific or technological designs already operating to tackle the problem of pollution in oceans around the world?
No the only thing i could find was the ocean cleanup floating dam.
Could you design an even better design of a machine/technology that could solve the problem of pollution in ocean?Consider; manpower, manpower to run/operate the machine, if any fuel would be used to power it, carbon emissions and the speed of what it could do. Either write briefly or sketch a diagram of your proposed prototype.
Plastic in our ocean is a big problem…
An even bigger problem in our ocean is microbeads. An example of this; some face washes and exfoliants use the plastic microbeads to exfoliate dead skin cells rather than using natural products/materials. The beads then enter the stormwater drains which end up in rivers and go out to sea. Read this website and …
- Summarise in 3 sentences the main ideas of what you read. To build a floating dam around the coast of that area so it stops plastic from getting into the ocean so it does not pollute the sea and doesn’t kill the animals
- Offer a suggestion to the problem. To stop throwing rubbish and plastic into the sea and stop pipes leading to the sea.
- Design a powerful slogan to the companies that produce this product, (might be easier in google drawing or to complete this by hand and then insert it into this doc).

This country is trying to tackle the problem of too much rubbish ending up in landfills. Watch the clip and read the website. What do you think of their strategy? Why have other countries not followed suit already? Are there any negatives you can think of?
MY THOUGHTS…
I thought that it is really cool that they use recycling and turn it into electricity & 2 tonnes of waste=1 tonne of electricity.
Aniela thinks it’s cool that they take other countries rubbish and turn it into electricity
They import english house waste.
When they burn the waste a tiny amount is polluting.
But in the long run they will be helping their country and other country with the rubbish

this is what we did on friday with room 9. I was a fun challenge because you got to do it with your friends and if your luck win chocolate moros and crunches to be exacted.

1. This challenge was about build a christmas tree and you had to us all the equitem we were giving
2. Aspects we were being judged on were if we had used all of the equitem, that you have
3. My team members included Charlotte, Emily , braden , lola and guy
4. The strength of our team was that we worked well
5. Overall results and what I would do differently next time we came first and we dont need to work on anything.

Athletics Learning
walt I will be able to explain desired technique including elements that prevent injury, body stance, and desired outcome depending on what activity I am competing in.
The first thing you show work on is the approach, you need to get a nice fast a approach to get a lot of distance so the sprint technique comes into long jumps.
When you come to the board the last three steps our the most important so try not to fall and lose speed, Don't forget to hit the of the board to get the and furthest jump. make sore to hit the board with the most of your foot on it and don't over stride of or slow down
If you are watching the olympics you might see the long jumper do a stretch bach or even to some kind of dance you don’t need to do that they do that to get some rhythm for there run, you can do it if you like but it is not necessary.
Thank you for reading my instructions for how to a successful long jump and if you do what I said just right you will have a better chance of winning.

Term 4 Writing Assessment
Today we completed our Term 4 writing assessment. We had 5 minutes to plan, 30 minutes to complete our first draft and 5 minutes to proof read. Here Is what I wrote…
Week 2 Problem Solving
I was last year at parkvale school and in the morning my stomach was not feeling very well so after morning tea I went to the sick bay. When I got to the counter the lady asked me “how can I help you” I said ‘my stomach is not feeling very well’ so she took me to the sick bay, Tried to call my mum dad they tried my mum she did not pick up then called my dad but he was to far away to come and dad called my at least 30 times but one one picked up the phone. It a all ready has been 2 hours, lunch has already bean and I have not eaten sins morning tea. By this time my stomach hart so much I cried when I walked. The lady at the count said to go back to class because there was only 20 minutes left in day, When I got to class every one look at me and said are you all right because just before lunch I vomited on the table just miss Sam's computa.
When mum picked me up from school she said she was on the phone and had to go out and pick ethan up. When I got have gust after I had a drink of water I vomited all over the floor my and mum saw the hole thing happen. After she called the floor up she got me a bucket to vomit in , I only used it 3 times. When dad got back at 7 o'clock he's said that I might have appendix problem So he touched me on the right lower side of my stomach and man did it hurt so. Mum took me too the hospital by now it is 8 o'clock when we got to the hospital I threw up again but this time it was in my jersey but lucky it was off. The people behind me helped clean me up and the nurses gave me this pill that stops you from vomiting then checked my blood pressure. Then put me through to the doctor, He said the i has a swollen appendix and that will blow up at any time. They took me in a bed with wheels in a room and I had my surgery the next the in the morning and my dad got to see what was inside of me. After the surgery I had to stay 2 or 3 more days in the hospital and it was so fun gust watching tv eatin nice food like jelly and playing on the ipad until 9 o'clock.

It was so fun at At social because we got to spend time with our friend and dance in line dances. the funniest thing that happened at the social was when hunter tried to jump over the rubbish bin but instead of jumping over it he talked it over and made the biggest mess i have ever seen , But since we were go friend we cleaned up all the for him.

What motivates change makers?
What might change makers do to motivate others? What actions and decisions do change makers take?

Room 12 decided that they wanted to take action and help the Hastings and District SPCA.
I was in Room 12 we have been learning about chang makers and our change maker and our class change maker was the SPCA. We had different groups i chose the SPCA fliers group and our job was to deliver fliers to different places. Our leader was kain and he was kind of a good leader but can get of task really I mean really easy. Josh was the other person that was in of group to.

1. What is your description of what a raggle-taggle chook would look like? Hardly any feathers wet and cold.
2. What was mum and dads suggestion for the fate of the chook? chop its head off and kill it.
3. What was the event that changed mum and dads mind about the chook? because she look after the chook, my doesn't mind her flower being scratched up and dad talks to the chook.
